IPhone had a huge market share till 2013 and was getting more and more user base. Google finally matured their Android OS which opened the way for new brands to launch their phone using their own hardware and Google’s OS that is android. Android was gaining more and more market share now as it was free of cost so brands can sell their phone for a cheaper price as compared to iPhone. Android having more apps and more features gained huge popularity and kept on getting that.

A basic smartphone user uses maps, Gmail, browser, all of these depends largely on google. As android has better version of google maps, Gmail and google services, so it is expanding largely.
A simple android phone can cost you up to 200$ while an iPhone can cost you 800$. So in mid and low range phones, Android covers all the market. The competition only lies in high end devices in which android phone are gaining more popularity as they have better image processing tools, better battery, more storage (smart storage) and provides way more flexibility.
IPhone is Going Down.
One more factor for android market to expand is that is has more flexibility and better compatibility with devices. You can connect external mouse, keyboard and all others usb devices using OTG cable. IPhone are still not capable to do that. You can even connect an arduino board with android for development purposes.
All these factors gives android phones edge over iPhone. If it remains the same case, very soon IPhone market share will go down drastically and users will move towards android phone. Now the question is will iPhone provide any new features that keeps them in the game? If that is not the case “IOS will be the next Symbian OS”.Just like nokia phones , Iphone market will go down drastically and eventually will be out from any competition.
